Quick hop in the subway, and we head for Columbus circle…
… from where we enter Central Park. There, we see some movie recording… We didn’t know what it was, until I recently spotted on TV a commercial for women’s clothes :). It’s funny to think “Hey! I was there!”
Following a more or less planned path, we go around the park. When people see a big rock, they can’t help but climb it :).
A little further down the path, we see the Dairy, opened in 1870 to guarantee a daily fresh glass of milk for kids out of school. Now it’s the park’s visitor’s center.
Céline was tired, but not enough to ask for the Carriage visit around the park. Probably would have been out of budget, anyway :p.
Instead, she asks to go to some place where she could sit down and rest a little. We meet Colombus…
On rencontre Christophe Colomb…
…before heading north on the Literary Walk.
While walking up this nice path under the shades, guess what?
Unlike Toronto, I didn’t see any black ones in there. At the end of the Literary Walk, you can see nice old-fashioned benches.
The Literary Walk ends up with Bethesda Terrace…
La Promenade Littéraire se termine sur la Bethesda Terrace…
There were lots of nice carvings there. I took some time taking what I could see…
And in the meantime, Céline was watching the view, waiting after the half-asian tourist that I am…
She was looking at the Bethesda Fountain:
Elle regardait la Bethesda Fountain:
Down there, there were lots of students in arts, practicing…
They were probably here to try to capture the Angel of the Waters with their pencils…
We saw in our guide that their was an outdoor café just there, so we decided to have a look… but that’s for tomorrow 🙂
