The Birds and the Bees

Nah, I’m not going to give you *that* talk. I assume you’re all big enough to know how things work by now. Or do you? We have a big garden here. With lots of fruit trees. Mostly apple trees, with the occasional cherry tree and a few berry bushes (although the raspberries didn’t survive SuperPuppy’s assault…). And I’m pretty sure there are beehives in the area. Honey is a very important ingredient in Czech baking after all. We are lucky enough to be able to find locally produced honey here.

Nan je déconne, je vais pas vous faire *cette* leçon. Je vais partir du principe que vous savez comment ça fonctionne à votre âge. N’est-ce pas? On a un grand jardin. Avec plein d’arbres fruitiers. Surtout des pommiers, avec un cerisier à l’occasion, et quelques buissons (enfin les framboises n’ont pas survécu à l’assaut de SuperToutou…). Et je suis à peu près sûr qu’on a des ruches dans le coin. Le miel est un ingrédient très important dans la pâtisserie tchèque après tout. On a la chance de trouver du miel produit localement par ici.

So come Spring, the blossoms cause the entire garden to be frantically buzzing for a few days. I cannot possibly keep count, but when you know how important bees are in the ecosystem, then the buzzing truly is a reassuring sound. Especially nowadays when we are discovering that bees are getting more and more endangered, pretty much by us. And pretty much by pesticides.

Donc au Printemps, les arbres en fleur font que le jardin tout entier vezoune frénétiquement pour quelques jours. J’ai pas tenu un compte exacte, mais quand on sait l’importance qu’ont les abeilles pour l’écosystème, le bourdonnement est vraiment rassurant. Surtout de nos jours où on commence à prendre conscience du péril grandissant des abeilles, surtout de notre fait. Coucou les pesticides.

Also, it’s so relaxing to watch them buzz around on a nice Spring morning, don’t you think?

Et puis c’est tellement relaxant de les voir trimer un beau matin de Printemps, vous trouvez pas?
