Weekly photo challenge: Horizon

Rare thing, I had actually taken a fitting picture this week for the Weekly Photo Challenge. The theme was Horizon. And on that same week-end, I went to Moravia for the first time, and visited a small city called Mikulov. There, around the end of the afternoon, I was at the top of the Svatý Kopeček, overlooking the city while the sun was slowly setting and the golden hour was starting. The perfect spot for a “Horizon” shot, which also conveniently doubled for a couple other photo projects, actually… (click on the picture to go see a bigger version on flickr).

There’s something about watching couples that I like. It’s not exactly voyeurisme, and I don’t really like to take their faces in pictures. It’s more about the gestures, a hand here, or there, a head here, or there… If you look at couples in the street, they all have their own rather unique patterns. So many different representations of the same feeling. Some are going over the top with PDAs, some are very discreet. But they all love each other. For this picture, I felt that I was at the right place, at the right time…

PS: as usual You can check the pingbacks and comments section over at the Daily Post for more interpretations of the theme 🙂

  1. I also do that often when I was backpacking in Europe….I must have had hundreds of PDAs photos from couples….especially in Paris and Venice! I wondered whether they were doing it intentionally because they are in a romantic city….and mind you its not only the young adults, ive also seen old ones doing PDA along the streets of Paris….(I almost bumped into a wall post when I saw a 60+ yrs old couple passionately French kissing at a pedestrian! hahaha) but your image is just a picture perfect one, with good lighting and scenery…I think that this is the best PDA image captured even if the couple were not kissing! 🙂

    1. Not sure if it’s intentional or just that the mood in which they are when they travel there lends itself to it :). PDAs don’t always come with a kiss 🙂
