The Eye of the Tiger

So, deceived by a Franklin Institute of Science that was closing too early on a Sunday afternoon, in the middle of the summer, I set out for a little stroll. After all, the parking I paid was an “all day” rate, and I intended to use it up as much as possible.

Donc, déçu par un Franklin Institute of Science qui ferme trop tôt le dimanche après-midi, au milieu de l’été, je pars pour une petite promenade. Après tout, le parking que j’ai payé était à la journée, et je comptais bien en profiter un maximum.

I watched nonchalantly as a model was doing a photoshoot in the middle of the street and headed to Logan Square (which is a circle, btw), and its refreshing fountain…

Je regardai nonchalemment un mannequin faire une séance photo en plein milieu de la rue et me dirigeai vers Logan Square (qui contrairement à ce que son nom anglais pourrait laisser penser, est de forme circulaire, d’ailleurs), et sa fontaine raffraichissante…

There was an amazing amount of kids in swimsuits playing in the fountain, with the adults watching. Me? No kids with me, so I was rather enjoying the details of the fountain, and the statues pouring water all over 🙂

Il y avait un sacré nombre de gamins en maillots jouant dans la fontaine, avec les adultes qui regardaient. Moi? Pas d’enfants, donc je profitais plutôt des détails de la fontaine, et les statues versant de l’eau partout 🙂

After a while enjoying the refreshing mist, I noticed a red brick building, which turned out to be the Basilica Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul:

Après un moment à profiter de la brume raffraîchissante, je remarquai un bâtiment en brique rouge, qui s’avéra être la Basilique-Cathédrale de Saints Pierre et Paul :

Not far from there, a wall painting caught my attention. Turns out it’s an ad for YMCA 🙂

Pas loin de là, une fresque retint mon attention. En fait, une pub pour le YMCA 🙂

And then, I came closer to the City Hall, all white and bright against the sky…

Et après, je me suis rapproché du City Hall, tout blanc et clair contre le ciel…

But it’s almost time for me to head back, and go all the way up along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway

Mais il est presque temps pour moi de rentrer, et de remonter la Benjamin Franklin Parkway

And noticing, around the Art Museum Plaza, a peculiar statue, oddly familiar.

Et de remarquer, aux alentours de l’Art Museum Plaza, une drôle de statue, étrangement familière.

Yes, it’s Stallone, in his Rocky Balboa moments. The explanation? During the movie, when he’s training, running up and down some stairs, in Philadelphia, which stairs do you think those were? That’s right, it was the stairs to the Philadelphia Museum of Art!

Oui, c’est Stallone, façon Rocky Balboa. Le pourquoi du comment? Pendant le film, pendant qu’il s’entraîne, à monter et descendre des escaliers en courant, à Philadelphie, quels escaliers pensez-vous qu’il gravit? Ouaip, les escaliers du Philadelphia Museum of Art!

OK, almost time to get back to the car, now…

Bon, presque l’heure de reprendre le volant…
