Franklin-mania

No, I’m not going to talk about the Turtle. I’m going to talk about the… the… well, it’s very difficult to categorize him. Inventor? Author? Publisher? Founding Father? Scientist? Diplomat? It’s not that I don’t know, it’s just that he’s done too many things in his lifetime to have only one title. US patriots probably remember him most as a Founding Father. That’s probably why, when you go see his grave at Christ Church Burial Ground, where he is buried with his wife, you can see so many coins on his grave. Just like wells and fountains everywhere around the world, it is a ‘make a wish’ landmark in Philadelphia.

Ben Franklin's grave, Christ Church Burial Ground

Christ Church Burial Ground, by the way, is also the final resting place of a few Signers of the Declaration of Independence. However, good luck trying to find them, names are impossible to read for most tombstones, eroded by time…

Christ Church Burial Ground

Benjamin Franklin’s House, as well, would be quite heavily visited, if only his family didn’t destroy it after his death. But since then, an outline has been built in Franklin Court, showing what is supposed to have been Franklin’s House.
